چکیده

The authors provide a model for dynamical scalarization, beyond the adiabatic approximation, using effective field theory techniques, demonstrating that inclusion of post-adiabatic corrections is crucial. agnostic, i.e., independent specific gravity and can therefore be used even alternative theories.

Effective Momentum Approximation and Beyond

The role of the effective momentum approximation to disentangle Coulomb distortion effects in quasielastic (e, e) reactions is investigated. The separation of the cross section in longitudinal and transverse components is discussed including higher order DWBA corrections due to the focusing of the electron waves. The experimental studies performed, in the last few years, making use of different...

Quantum Transport Beyond the Effective Mass Approximation

A three-dimensional full band simulator for nanowire field-effect transistors (FETs) is presented in this thesis. At the nanometer scale the classical drift-diffusion transport theory reaches its limits; quantum transport (QT) phenomena govern the motion of electrons and holes. The development of a QT simulator requires the assembly of several physical models and the choice of appropriate simpl...

Time-dependent density-functional theory beyond the adiabatic approximation: insights from a two-electron model system.

Most applications of time-dependent density-functional theory (TDDFT) use the adiabatic local-density approximation (ALDA) for the dynamical exchange-correlation potential V(xc)(r,t). An exact (i.e., nonadiabatic) extension of the ground-state LDA into the dynamical regime leads to a V(xc)(r,t) with a memory, which causes the electron dynamics to become dissipative. To illustrate and explain th...

Adiabatic Effective Action for Vortices in Neutral and Charged Superfluids

Adiabatic effective action for vortices in neutral and charged superfluids at zero temperature are calculated using the topological Landau-Ginzburg theory recently proposed by Hatsuda, Yahikozawa, Ao and Thouless, and vortex dynamics are examined. The Berry phase term arising in the effective action naturally yields the Magnus force in both neutral and charged superfluids. It is shown that in n...
